An annual event showcasing surfing’s best feature films, documentaries and independents plus the pick of short film productions from Britain and Ireland’s homegrown talents and accompanied by Q&A sessions with surfing and filmmaking legends as well as a gallery show of iconic works, the London Surf / Film Festival is the ‘must attend’ event for purveyors or the glide.
We have been overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of films submitted to the festival and will shortly be posting the festival line-up. At this point all we can certainly promise some very exciting European and UK premieres.

Another great event and one that I've been personally involved in from time to time is the legendry (well it is in Kendal) Kendal Mountain Film Festival, celebrating all those things, well nearly all those things your likely to do in the outdoors, which covers a myriad of things including Climbing, Mountaineering, Surfing, Mountainbiking, Paragliding, Caving and Kayaking - by no means a comprehensive list. As well as all the excellent films there are to watch, there are lectures and seminars that you can attend as well, check out a list of what, who and when its happening here
So exactly what can you expect? Here's what the guys up in Kendal have to say -
'Kendal' is one of the leading festivals of its kind in the world. It is an internationally known event, attracting film premieres from around the globe. Film makers, TV producers, adventurers, climbers and world-class lecturers gather to take part in four packed days of the very best films, speakers, books and exhibitions covering all aspects of mountain and adventure sports culture. It is also the main social event for outdoor enthusiasts in the UK and 2011 will be our 12th straight year.
KMF is not all extreme action - film genres include culture, drama, wildlife and environmental documentaries plus a huge lecture programme. Other highlights include arts and literature events, plus the highly respected 'Adventure Film Academy' for aspiring film-makers - involving the BBC and other key organisations.
Extra expenditure into the local economy generated by the Kendal Mountain Festival has been independently calculated to be in excess of £1.5m.
The Festival has even been cited by the Sunday Times as one of the reasons young people are attracted to Kendal as a place to live!
And lastly I nice little mission statement from them
The Kendal Mountain Festival aims to inspire and educate audiences about the world of mountains and wilderness.
It celebrates the spirit of exploration and adventure and will strive to promote deep respect for the wild environment.
All in all a great couple of events that shouldn't be missed if at all possible, I'll be attending both so if you see me there please say "HI"
